Got some herbal and fruity teas
Posted
There is a chain of tea shops that I kinda like, they are called Bird & Blend Tea Co.. When I first noticed them I didn’t realize they were a chain. I had recently moved to the UK and my wife was studying in Angel while we were in an Airbnb in the Isle of Dogs. That flat didn’t even had a table or chairs, so every morning, I’d leave the flat with her and go towards Angel together. There in Angel, I’ve found one of my favorite places in all of London, Camden Passage, which is a little collection of streets an alleyways full of cozy coffee and tea shops (and other shops and pubs). The first coffee shop that felt like home was there — six degrees — and so was the first tea shop, Bird & Blend.
They had so many flavours, all with whimsical names such as Bear Loves Marmalade and the people who worked there were always so friendly. I really enjoyed the place. Unfortunately, they are more focused on takeaway and supplying you with tea to take home. There is a small counter top with high benches to sit but it is clearly not a place for you to sit with your laptop and work throughout the day. So I mostly kept going there every now and then when I was leaving Six Degrees and about to go home, just to grab a tea and walk away.
Later, I was fortunate to move close to Camden Passage, I can walk about 20 minutes and be there. So I kept going there couple times a month, mostly when I was bored of the closer coffee shops. Now with lockdown and quarantines, I’m my own barista (and a poor one at it) and been drinking too much coffee, which has led to trouble sleeping and more anxiety.
Following advise I got here, I started substituting some of my daily cuppas for tea instead of coffee, and been favouring herbal and fruity flavours instead of black tea. I’m quite happy with this setup. I do coffee in the morning and the afternoon and tea in between and afterwards. Life is good.
But as I mentioned, I get bored easily. Not as easily as I get distracted though. So I got bored of the teas I had at home and decided to try some new flavours. I saw that Bird & Blend was still delivering and that they use Royal Mail to ship stuff. I live in a very large building so ordering from them wouldn’t cause unnecessary trips for the mail as they are coming here daily anyway. I went ahead and ordered three loose leaf teas and a nice measure spoon. They threw in some extra samplers. They are a very cute company, it even came with a handwritten note saying I was a tea-rrific customer. I like those human touches.
